For AI assistants
F1 MCP server
Ask Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client about Formula 1, answered from Kerbside's statistics, with a link to the page behind every number.
The server
Kerbside runs a public, read-only Model Context Protocol server. Your assistant calls it as a set of tools and quotes the answer. No account or key is needed.
https://kerbside.racing/api/mcpAdd it to your assistant
- Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop): Customize → Connectors → + Add → Add custom connector, name it Kerbside, paste the URL above and keep No sign in selected. Then click Connect on the connector’s page. On a Team or Enterprise plan an owner first adds it under Organization settings → Connectors (Add → Custom → Web), then each member opens Customize → Connectors, finds Kerbside and clicks Connect. See Anthropic’s guide to custom connectors.
- Claude Code: run
claude mcp add --transport http kerbside https://kerbside.racing/api/mcp - ChatGPT: Plugins → Add → Add custom MCP server, name it Kerbside, paste the URL above and set Authentication to No authentication. Tick the risk acknowledgement, click Create as a plugin, then Connect Kerbside. In a chat, type @Kerbside to use it. In a Business or Enterprise/Edu workspace only admins and owners, or members an admin has allowed, can add one. See OpenAI’s guide to custom MCP servers.
- OpenAI Codex: add these lines to
~/.codex/config.toml[mcp_servers.kerbside] url = "https://kerbside.racing/api/mcp" - Any other client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP: add the URL above as a server.
Things to ask
- Who won the 2008 championship, and by how many points?
- How did Hamilton and Rosberg compare as teammates, season by season?
- Who can still win this year's title?
- Who gained the most places on lap 1 in 2025?
- Who would have won 1988 under today's points system?
Tools
search
Resolve a name to Kerbside drivers, teams (marques) and races, with their Kerbside URLs. A driver slug is the last part of its URL (/drivers/<slug>); other tools take that slug.championship_standings
Drivers' championship standings of a season after a given round (default: the latest round with results), with the points each driver scored in that round. The final round of a finished season is the final championship table: the champion and the margin.championship_math
For the current season: each driver's and constructor's points, the most they can still score in the remaining races (today's points table, sprints included), and whether they can still win the title.power_ranking
Kerbside's Power Score ranking of a season's drivers (default weights), with the four component scores. A site-defined metric: the definition is returned with the data.teammate_head_to_head
Qualifying and race head-to-head between two drivers who were teammates (from 1981), overall and per season, for each team they shared.peak_finder
Drivers ranked by their best run of 3, 5 or 10 consecutive seasons (every season raced), by points, wins, podiums or win rate.driver_milestones
Active drivers close to a round-number career milestone (e.g. 100th podium) or an all-time team record, with how far off they are.lap1_performance
Per driver, the average places gained or lost on the opening lap over a season's races and sprints (seasons with position data: 2023 on).what_if
A season's drivers' championship re-scored with another points system, beside the actual standings. Systems, by points from 1st down: current 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1 + fastest lap; classic 10-6-4-3-2-1; pre2003 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1; winner_takes_all 25; linear 20…1.get_record
One all-time driver record board from /records, top N with every driver tied at the cut.
Every answer says what each number counts (a start is a race the driver started; championship points are the points that counted for the title, not every point scored), which race it is up to date with, and links the Kerbside page it came from, such as the standings or the analysis tools.
Limits
Answers are cached for up to an hour and refresh after each race. Each client can make 60 requests a minute, one tool call each. We log which tool was called, not what was asked.
